Meet Alisa Kachikis, M.D., Gynecology & Maternity Care Provider | UW Medicine

ALISA KACHIKIS: Well, I may be a little bit biased But I do think that pregnancy and childbirth are some of the more interesting areas of medicine

When I chose to go into maternal-fetal medicine, I was working in a small sub-Saharan country called Malawi And I became very interested in complexities of pregnancy and childbirth and how to work with these conditions in both high in low-resource settings I like to think of the patient-doctor relationship as a teamwork Whether a pregnancy is really smooth or a pregnancy has some rough patches, my door is always open And we communicate to make the pregnancy as easy and stress-free as possible for patients and doctors

I really like my job I like working with my patients I think that pregnancy and childbirth is extremely interesting I like thinking about ways and research questions that will make pregnancy easier or better for moms, for the newborns And I think it's a very exciting field
