Served with a Parenting Plan Modification – Seattle Lawyer Eric Engel Explains What to do

Hi My name is Eric Engel and I'm a child custody lawyer here in Seattle, Washington with the Engel Law Group

First, what is a parenting plan modification? Parenting plan modification is when one side asks to change the custodial relationship that you have with your children and to change their own relationship they have with your children The first thing you have to do is you have to respond to the petition That usually means that you have to do something in writing within 20 days – or 60 days if you're out of state Two: you need to take a hard look at the facts they are alleging in the petition Any person who's trying to modify a parenting plan has to set forth a factual basis for that modification

Usually modifications are going to be really serious, such as drug use or alcohol use I call these hard facts Sometimes a parenting plan modification is based on what I call soft facts Those are basically he said/she said – their word against yours Why am I telling you this? You're watching this video because you've probably just been served with a parenting plan modification and you don't know what to do

I deal with these sorts of issues every day Pick up the phone and call me at 206-625-9800 Thanks for watching my video
