The Feeling Better Rut

13 weeks seems to be the magic number for me! Last night was the first night IN WEEKS that I stayed up later than 7:30. I was getting so sick in the evening that instead of fighting it, I just gave in, went to bed, and slept through the nausea. Nighttime, AKA when my kids are sleeping, is the time when I’m most productive. It’s the only time of the day that I can catch up on cleaning, laundry, and cooking. I’ve given up on all of it the past few weeks; my husband has been doing ALL of the laundry (I know, he’s amazing.) and my kids have been eating a lot of pasta (not that they’re complaining). Today, since I’m finally feeling better, I’ve been catching up on all of those things by doing what else? Why going through my Pinterest boards for motivation and inspiration of course. While on Pinterest, I realized I’m approaching “the feeling better rut.” That rut you reach when you start to feel better and have all of this motivation to be productive, start dressing cute, have a cleaner house, and start working out again; however, you soon realize that none of your clothes fit, it’s one degree outside, and there’s no food in your fridge. To top it all off, I don’t even look pregnant. I just look like I’ve been drinking a lot of beer lately.* So what’s a mama to do? It’s been my most productive day in a long time: I went grocery shopping (which I might add, involved getting dressed for the first time in awhile), did 30 minutes of yoga courtesy of my TV’s OnDemand selection, folded some laundry, roasted a chicken for dinner, organized the playroom, and to top it all off, ordered myself a new purse online – because I deserve it AND it’s the only thing that doesn’t require a size. The bad news? It’s only 4pm, my kids won’t nap, I’m exhausted, and I’ve run out of things to do. I guess we can bake cookies.

*OBVIOUSLY, that’s NOT the case
